A grid-tie inverter is used by renewable energy systems, and it converts the direct current from solar panels to AC which can then be fed back into an existing power grid (e.g. back to the relevant utility company at a profit).

 The Matrix Energy grid-tie system can be used for FIT* and microFIT** systems, and will feed power back into the utility system for as long as sunlight is present (approximately 1200 kWh per year per kW installed).
