With wind energy an appropriate location is crucial. Winds must be steady and turbulence free to get the most out of your generator. The higher the wind turbine, the stronger and more steady the winds will be. The towers must be well guyed to reduce vibration.

The Air X wind generators, manufactured by Southwest Windpower, offer advanced technologies. This wind turbine has a built-in voltage regulator, in high winds it has controlled stall of the blades, and also comes with an extensive 3-year warranty.

The Bergey XL.1 has a rotor diameter of 2.5 meters and a peak output of approx. 1,600 watts, and is intended for the home market that is off of the hydro grid.

It can also be used as an upgrade from smaller micro generators. The XL.1 has advanced features, such as a new airfoil, and alss comes with a 5-year warranty.

The blades are composed of pultruded fiberglass, which is exceedingly strong. 
 

The Whispers redesigned H40 turbine (also manufactured by Southwest Windpower) incorporates a upgraded neodymium permanent magnet alternator, which combined with Whisper's high efficiency composite airfoil blade design, delivers 1500 watts, and 50% more power than the original H40.

The H40 will produce 4.2 KwH/day at a 12 mph average wind speed. The all new EZ wire controller offers greater reliability and superior control for battery charging, with easy settable voltage regulation points, isolation of load dump from the battery, all in a compact, safe cabinet design. The EZ wire controller and load dump resistor are included in the new, lower priced system. The new EZ wire will no longer feature a solar input.
